JONATHAN NAHMIAS MORR

Jonathan Morr has established himself as a resident tour de force in the fast-paced field of creative entrepreneurs.  Shortly after graduating from “Les Roches” Hotel Management School in Switzerland, Morr initially acquired his invaluable experience and managerial expertise as Food & Beverage Director both at the Hilton in Short Hills and the Stanhope Hotel in Manhattan.  His natural dynamism and flair for innovation soon brought him together with Ian Schrager, whom he joined with Brian McNally to open the Royalton Hotel’s restaurant 44, and subsequently the Blue Door at the Delano Hotel in South Beach Miami in 1995.

With the creation of Republic, an Asian noodle concept in Manhattan’s Union Square acclaimed for successfully combining fast, affordable food and conventional restaurant, Morr rose to the ranks of esteemed restaurateur.  Throughout the nineties, Morr further explored the breadth of his inventive talents creating establishments such as Sandbox, a high quality restaurant chain, and the eponymous (Jonathan Morr) Espresso Bar, which became noted as one of the first of its kind in New York City.  Morr was notably key in the conception and realization of the eminent BondSt, a sleek multi-level sushi emporium that has become a renowned classic on the New York restaurant scene since its opening in 1998.

With his restless creative mind, Morr has maintained his energetic spark in the dynamic and competitive world of restaurants, hotels, and entertainment.  In 1999 he formed the Jonathan Morr Group, a company dedicated to developing high-end, stylish hotel and restaurant concepts that has more than lived up to its promise.  The syndicate’s first hotel venture was Townhouse, Miami Beach, which opened in 2000 along with its accompanying BondSt Lounge, the Miami incarnate of BondSt NY.  The exclusive lounge/bar APT opened in the same year in the hip Meat Packing District of Manhattan to great success, recently being voted best lounge by New York Magazine (March 2002).  His latest Manhattan restaurant Theo, a modern bistro with an intimate upstairs lounge, was unveiled in January 2002.

Staying true to his pioneering aptitude of setting up in areas on the rise, Morr is selecting new projects that reflect his commitment to developing and nurturing enticing new concepts and emerging neighborhoods.  He is currently developing a 40-room hotel in Mexico City’s charming neighborhood, La Condesa…  Other potential projects include a hotel on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and the development of a lifestyle dining concept with Chef Geoffrey Zakarian based on Italian cuisine.
